Prof. Prabhat Ranjan is currently Vice Chancellor of D Y Patil International University(DYPIU), Akurdi, Pune. From April 2013 to April 2018, he was heading India’s Technology Think Tank, TIFAC in Delhi. TIFAC is an autonomous body under the Dept of Science and Technology, Govt of India. Earlier he was Professor at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute for Information and Communication Technology, Gandhinagar (DA-IICT) from 2002 to 2013.
He was educated at Netarhat School(near Ranchi), IIT Kharagpur, and Delhi University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley where he carried out research on “Nuclear Fusion” at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory from 1983-86. He immediately returned to India after this and carried out research in the Nuclear Fusion area at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta, and Institute for Plasma Research(IPR), Gandhinagar. He played a major role in India’s Nuclear Fusion program and was Project Leader of the largest operational Indian Fusion Reactor, ADITYA, at the Institute for Plasma Research from 1996-2002.
As founder Vice-Chancellor of DYPIU, he created a flexible and futuristic multi-track B Tech(Comp Sci and Engg) program in 2019 which has impacted the Computer Science curriculum across the country. He is also Chairing the National Committee of AICTE IDEA Lab scheme to spread digital fabrication facilities across the country.
His research interests include applications of Wireless Sensor networks to Wildlife, Planetary Exploration (Chandrayaan mission), Nuclear Fusion, Healthcare, Agriculture, etc. He has received National Science Talent Search Award, IBM Faculty Innovation Grant, HP Innovate 2009 award, Bihar Gaurav Samman 2012, and NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award 2012. In March 2022, he was also honored with EduStar India’s Most Impactful Vice Chancellor Award for 2021-22.
He has been recognized among few visionaries, who can lead India towards 5 Trillion Dollar Economy. He has been also honoured with Maharashtra Ratna Gaurav Puraskar by Shalini Foundation in 2024. He is also recognized among the top “100 Great IITians : Dedicated to the Service of the Nation”.

I have a master’s degree in Nuclear Phys./ Univesity of Mosul/Iraq. Currently I am working in the field of teaching in University of Zakho (http://www.uoz-krg.org/). Our Ministry (Minstry of Higher Education and Scientific Reseach) has starts of the projects called Split Site, which is the completion of Ph.D. degree by selecting two supervisors, one of them in inside the country and the other outside the country. Now I have a supervisor in my country but now I need for another supervisor outside my country in specialized Plasma fusion, so I contacted you to take your opinion if possible to be supervisor in my Ph.D. research, and if you have any proposal in plasma fusion, it would be good for me and I will be grateful to you.

I saw the video link. It is using Emotiv Epoch neuroheadset to capture EEG waves and train for four actions – this is provided by the Software given with headset. I have used the same device since 2011. However most of the people find it difficult to train the system. Most cases, I have found it useful to capture head movement and facial expression or eye blink to operate computer and other devices. You can see those stories on the blog.
It would have been good if the video had showed at least one user using it. That would be more convincing.
